In a unexpected collaboration that breaks traditional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Uncovered

According to the formal announcement, "A strange encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where whispers of banned rituals and fearsome changes echo through the shadows." The narrative introduces a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a clandestine group.

The adventure centers on "bizarre trials and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Changes

The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer concludes with a powerful sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Items and Additional Content

Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an unique katana in addition to multiple artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Exclusive arms
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Update

This patch also brings the game's latest complimentary story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic abilities: Naoe introduces a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Previous Anime Collaborations

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
