One of the original creators of the famous frozen dessert company Ben and Jerry's has stated how parent company the multinational conglomerate stopped the launch of an innovative Palestine-themed ice cream flavor.

The entrepreneur, who established the company with Jerry Greenfield, disclosed how he will independently develop the controversial product within an individual collection highlighting issues Ben & Jerry's was prevented from speaking out about.

Longstanding Conflict Involving Founders versus Parent Company

This latest announcement intensifies the ongoing disagreement between the world-famous dessert company and its corporate parent, the British consumer goods giant that has owned Ben & Jerry's for over two decades.

The co-founders maintain how Unilever and their ice cream division Magnum unlawfully blocked their company from "fulfilling its ethical commitments".

Watermelon Sorbet as an Emblem of Support

Mr. Cohen revealed through an Instagram video how he is creating a new watermelon-based sorbet, requesting consumer ideas for naming options and potential ingredients.

“I'm doing what they were prevented from doing,” Mr. Cohen stated in his kitchen. “I'm creating a watermelon-based frozen dessert that advocates for permanent peace in Palestine while demanding addressing the harm that occurred in the region.”

The watermelon has emerged as an emblem for support for the Palestinian people because of its colors, which closely resemble those of Palestine's national banner – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Previous Social Engagement and Recent Changes

Several years ago, the ice cream company refused to sell their merchandise in areas occupied by Israel, resulting in the parent company selling their Israel business to an Israeli distributor, thereby permitting continued sales in disputed territories.

This upcoming product line is being developed under Ben's Best, the activist ice cream brand that originally created several years back to support ex- political contender Senator Sanders with the flavor "Bernie's Back".

Leadership Shifts plus Upcoming Plans

The founder stated that he plans to develop additional ice cream flavors focusing on issues that Ben & Jerry's was silenced from speaking about openly by corporate restrictions.

This development comes after partner Jerry Greenfield stepped down his position at Ben & Jerry's recently, following many years of involvement, mentioning concerns regarding how its independence was undermined after Unilever's decision to curb its social activism.

At that time, Ben Cohen stated how “My partner has a really big heart and the ongoing dispute with Unilever was breaking it."

"My heart leads me to continue to work inside the company to fight for its independence so that the company can fulfill the social mission, the principles that it was founded on and has maintained for over 40 years," he explained to journalists.
