Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered many other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for information.
An important official commented the incident made him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
