Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were wounded while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and encountered problems to water supplies, according to city officials.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a distinct aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has increased assaults on electrical systems over recent weeks, while officials has called for "concrete actions" from international partners to increase pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the G7 - in providing defensive weapons and applying penalties," was stated in a online statement.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 projectiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were laboring to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles hit electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the assaults on the capital have been hospitalized, per statements from municipal representatives.
